Tell me a little about yourself?

This question seems simple but don’t be fooled, do not give your personal or employment history, instead sell yourself provide information on your accomplishments and attributes.

It is crucial you have researched the organisation, but apart from knowing what they do it is also important that you know what their goals are, these are always stated on a Companies website, include goals that you believe are important.

Why do you want this job?

Employers want to hire people who really want their job, so you need to answer this question well. Identify a couple of key factors in the role that totally fit you and share your love of them e.g. I love dealing with people.

Why should I hire you?

This question can seem intimidating but you are lucky if you are asked it as there is no better set up for you to be able to sell yourself and your skills and experience to the employer.

What are your strengths?

Share your true strengths not those you think the employer wants to hear but make them relevant, choose strengths you have that are needed in the role you are applying for.

What are your weaknesses?

The employer by asking this question is trying to gauge your self-awareness and honesty. Think about something you struggle with and explain how you are working to improve in this area.

What is your greatest professional achievement?

Nothing says ‘employ me’ more than a track record of achieving amazing results in past jobs, so don’t be shy when answering this question, this is the time to blow your own trumpet.

Tell me the biggest challenge you have faced at work?

By asking this the interviewer wants to get an idea of how you will respond to conflict. Be sure to explain the challenge carefully and also how you handled the situation, closing with a happy ending where possible.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

If asked this question to be honest and specific about you future goals but remember the employer want to know a) do you have a realistic expectations b)are you ambitious c) if the position aligns with your goals. It is perfectly ok to say you are not sure but you see this position helping you to make this decision
