Resolutions which will inspire you at work next year
The New Year will be with us before we know it and as usual we will set our resolutions. Mine are usually to eat healthier, exercise more, swear less and sleep more. These goals usually last a few days before I go back to normal and enjoy my naughty lifestyle. This year I intend to do something different and set resolutions that I can do at work that will benefit my whole life. Here is what I intend to incorporate into my daily life in order to make my upcoming working year a better one, why not join me.
I’m going to revamp my social media priorities
I’m going to look objectively at my online profiles, are they portraying the right image? After all I’m a lot older now than I was when I set them up. Lots of people use social media in order to screen you, so if I want clients to call me and use my company I need a professional image. You also need a good image as over 70% of employers now use social media to screen job candidates before inviting them for interview. I’m going to get rid of my embarrassing photos and encourage you to do the same.
I’m going to do something for me everyday
Its human nature to get caught up doing things for others and forget to do something for yourself. This is the year I’m going to make a change and do something for myself every single day. Whether it’s going for a walk at lunch time or treating myself to a posh coffee on the way into work, it’s going to be for me. Even having an ice cream after dinner is going to be the new norm. I’m going to treat myself why don’t you?
I’m going to take credit where credit is due
Are you constantly beating yourself up about what went wrong rather than reflecting on the amazing job you have done? Well so do I. it’s time to start giving myself more credit, patting myself on the back and being proud of what I’ve achieved and not focussing on what hasn’t gone right. No-one else is going to motivate you as well as you can motivate yourself and that’s what I intend to do next year and so should you.
I’m always going to be positive
Are you one of those people who always think that the grass is greener on the other side? Sometimes I can think this way but not anymore. It is time I changed my mind-set into a more positive one. I’m going to be grateful for where I am and the job I have. I’m going to do a list about what is good about my life and my job and be more positive next year. You’ll be amazed at the difference a mind-set shift can make!
I’m going to learn something new
There are a lot of computer applications I struggle with, frankly I am not computer literate and need to improve in this area. It is time I learned something new and developed my skills. It is something that will enhance my job and make things easier for me. Why don’t you look at what skill or knowledge would improve your life of your day at work.
I’m going to make new friends and network more
Even though I’m not looking for a new job I know that networking is something I need to put more effort into. Going to networking events and connecting with people online could help my business or make me a new friend. Hopefully I’ll learn new things and improve my social circle. You should try it, it could get you a new job offer.
I’m going to improve my to-do list
My to-do list currently a few scribbles on a note pad in my kitchen. It’s probably time I upped my list and organised my time a bit better. I am resolved to create a to-do list at the end of each day so I’m more organised and prepared for the next day. You should try it I think it will make us seem more efficient.
I’m going to rethink my professional goals
Having professional goals to work towards can really help you advance your career. In my case professional goals will help me develop my business. I’m going to think about what I want to do at work next year and what I want to achieve and I’m going to set myself some targets. If you want to change your career set yourself goals such as gaining the qualifications needed to break into your chosen field – do it now before it’s too late.
I’m going to stop complaining
Whilst I’m not really a moany type of person I do often complain about the state of the office, the mess in the kitchen and the fact that no-one seems to understand the principle of recycling , next year I’m going to stop this. I’m not going to complain anymore. I want a happy working environment don’t you? If so be happy.
I’m going to build better relationships with my colleagues
It’s so easy to take your work colleagues for granted, I’m always barking orders across the office and never really sitting with people and getting to know them. Relationships at work are important so I’m going to work on improving mine and so should you.
I’m going to reduce my stress levels
I often feel super stressed at work so I know I need to take a step back and find out where the stress is coming from. I’m probably putting too much pressure on myself for no apparent reason. Once I have identified the course I am going to find ways to eliminate it. Look at your own situation at work to get rid of the stress.
I’m going to improve my work-life balance
I’m really guilty of staying in the office late every night and then rushing home to throw an M&S prepared meal in the oven because it’s too late to cook anything. I’m going to learn when to switch off and work out how I can get out off the office on time. You need to do this to!
I’m going to stop procrastinating
Sometimes I can be guilty of procrastinating. It’s easy in my job to get side-tracked. We’ve all been there. That said in the New Year I’m going to set myself a new goal and stop wasting time at work. I’m going to be focussed, perhaps you should consider this as well.
I’m going to improve my mental skills
I know I need to be more focused and alert at times therefore I’m going to improve my mental skills. I’m going to be doing more crosswords and suduco, I may also look into mind training games on my phone. I’m no spring chicken therefore I need to keep my brain active. I know at times I need to function better, do you?
I’m going to get more sleep
Somedays I can’t stop yawning and I know I’m not getting enough sleep. To improve my energy levels and concentration I am going to aim to get at least eight hours of shut-eye every night. Why don’t you try this as well you’ll be thanking me for this advice later!
I’m going to look at my pension
I’m a women of a certain age and retirement is looming, I need to make sure I have enough in my pension pot to keep me in the life style that I’ve become accustomed to. Even if you’re in your 20s or 30s you should definitely start thinking about your pension. It’s not a bad idea to start putting an extra few pounds in your pot each month. You’ll be grateful for this later on and will be able to live the like of old riley.
New Year resolutions should be exciting and inspiring. Work resolutions will help your career and hopefully make you happier in your job. Choose a couple of these that would suit you and make next year far better and more productive than this one.
Good Luck
